The economy daily of Saudi Arabian reported that Saudi Arabian smart meter project will be officially launched in the next two months. The Ministry of energy, the government procurement Bureau, the Measurement Standards Bureau, the power company and other departments signed a joint cooperation agreement to strengthen smart meter procurement and localized production.
According to the agreement, Saudi electric power company will complete 3.5 million pieces in the first quarter of 2020, the third quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021 under the guidance and support of relevant departments respectively. It is reported that Saudi electric power company has invited 10 enterprises to participate in the bidding of the project. The successful bidder company will undertake no less than 35% localization production task of smart meters.
