Structural differences between screws and nails

There are significant differences in the structure of screws and nails. The following is a detailed introduction:
Thread and screw structure
- Screw: Screws are composed of threads and screws. Threads are their important features. Through threads, they can cooperate with nuts and can be tightened and loosened. This allows screws to adjust the tightening degree as needed to achieve different fixing effects when fixing objects. For example, when installing furniture, the tightening degree of the screws can be adjusted according to the tightness requirements of the component connection.
- Nails: Nails do not have thread and screw structures. They are an integral rod-shaped object. Generally, they can be fixed to objects by hammering. There is no way to use threads for rotation, fixing and adjustment like screws.

Head and rod shape
- Screw: The head of the screw has various shapes, and the common ones are flat head, cross head, hexagon socket head and other different shapes. Different head designs are suitable for different tools. For example, cross head screws need to be screwed with a cross screwdriver, and hexagon socket head screws need to be operated with a hexagon wrench. The rod has external threads, and the specifications and pitch of the threads will vary according to different uses and standards.
- Nails: The head of a nail is usually flat and relatively large, which makes it easier for the hammer to apply force to drive it into the object. The stem is usually a smooth cylinder without a threaded structure. The tip of some nails is designed to be sharper to facilitate easier driving into the material.
