How to tighten hexagonal screws
Screwing in hex head screws requires a wrench that fits on the outside of the screw head. You will need a wrench or adjustable wrench that matches the size of the screw.

Use a socket wrench
Socket wrenches are suitable for hex head screws that have an indentation or opening on the top. Before you begin, make sure you have the correct size socket to match the screws you want to install or remove.

Then, follow these steps:

Place the square fixing piece on the socket's square knob to make the connection.
Wait until you hear or feel a click, indicating that the wrench and socket are connected.
Select the direction of movement of the wrench by turning the knob to the right to tighten or to the left to loosen.
Place the socket on the screw. Turn the wrench all the way to one side until you feel the screw is removed.
If you have a ratcheting socket wrench, instead of removing the wrench, screw it back to the starting point and repeat the same process until the screw is in or out.
Use a standard wrench
Like socket wrenches, standard wrenches come in a variety of sizes and widths that need to match the screws you want to install or remove. The open-end wrench surrounds the hex head screw from four sides and can be slid sideways onto the screw in hard-to-reach locations. The socket wrench is closed and must be placed on top of the screw. Some socket wrenches have a ratchet function.

The working principle of a standard wrench is as follows:

Choose a wrench that corresponds to your screw size.
Place the wrench around the screw.
Turn clockwise to tighten, counterclockwise to loosen.
If your wrench does not have a ratcheting feature, remove the wrench and reinstall it on the screw to continue turning.
Repeat this process until the screws are tight or loose.
Use an adjustable wrench
The adjustable wrench has a removable jaw, so you can make the wrench larger or smaller as needed to match the size of the screw. You don't need an adjustable wrench to find a matching size tool, but it won't ratchet.

Here's how to use an adjustable wrench.

Place the wrench loosely around the screw.
Adjust the wrench until it fits the head snugly.
Like a standard wrench, turn clockwise to tighten and counterclockwise to loosen.
Remove the wrench and reset to continue turning, then repeat until the screw is in or out.
