Installation Warning: Dowel pins should not be installed by striking or hammering and when installing with a press, a shield should be used and safety glasses worn. Hardened ground machine dowel pins shall have sufficient ductility to withstand being pressed into the recommended holes without cracking or shattering.
Because of the wide variety of materials in which dowel pins are used and the many design requirements which must be considered, it is not possible to provide hole size recommendations that will be suitable for all applications.
DIN6325 Dowel Pins M6 Tolerance are headless parallel pins that are hardened and ground to an exact diameter. One end is chamfered 15° and rounded to aid insertion, while the other end is rounded. Solid cylindrical pins are designed for multi-purpose use and can be used to align parts, as guide and wrist pins, as shafts, stops, and as roller bearings for wheels and castors. When installed in a press-fit size hole, they should be pressed into place rather than using impact force (the pin may chip if hit with a hammer). With tolerance grades ranging from m6 (oversize) to h6 (undersize), the "limit deviations" (also called "tolerance zones") vary depending on the diameter. For example, an M5 m6 pin has a diameter of +0.004 to +0.012 mm, but an M5 h6 tolerance pin only varies by 0.008 mm, not 0.016 mm: 0 to -0.008 mm. All pins are finished steel so they will not rust. Measured from end to end like ISO 2338 and Imperial series dowel pins, however the DIN 7 length excludes the rounded/chamfered ends.
